harming anything. Hook up an oil temp gauge and start/park your car the way you normally do and record the oil temp when shutting off. Then do the same thing, except wait for 2:00 minutes (approx. avg. time a turbo timer would idle the car at) and see if the oil temps are lower. If the difference is significant, like maybe 8-10 degrees then maybe a turbo timer wouldn't be a bad idea after all.
